January 2012 SKATE PARK MEETING - Update

January 2012
The last meeting with the Park board was a positive one. With new assistance in grant-writing, we're slowly
making advances in an important area of fundraising, thanks to Jill Finney with the City of Nixa.

We've continued to send out letters to businesses in the surrounding area, however we still need your help. If you have a skill that could lend itself to building a skatepark or a business that can donate materials, all donations are accepted.

We'll be making more plans for fundraising this year. Check back for more info on contests and fundraisers.

September 7, 2011 @ 7PM at the Nixa City Hall

We'll be meeting with the council and giving them an update on account status and current donations and fundraising.

The Nixa City Hall is located at  715 W. Mt. Vernon in Nixa, Missouri.

Contact us for more info!

Current Plan on the books
We've been working with American Ramp Company and have a possible new design that is within our budget. We'd like to know what you think. Please contact us to tell us if you think this design will satisfy your skate urge on our VERY conservative budget. I know we've shown alot of plans and had a lot of great idea's, but now is the time to think "completion". We've been working on this for many years and it would be great to get a small but sustainable and entertainable park ready for the community of Nixa. All we can say is we've tried our best.

Take a look below to see what we're thinking about.

The February Silent Auction - Feb. 26, 2011 wrap-up

The first ever Nixa Skate Park Committee Silent Auction was a small success and a well deserved thank you goes out to all of our sponsors and to our community. We couldn't have done it without everyones help. The Nixa Parks and Recreation Department deserves a thank you for the all of the support they gave and continue to give. Hat's off to Kelly and his team.

The Monster Energy Drink field manager Jonathon Paulie and his team deserve a shout out! Monster is always a great partner in these events. Thanks for the drinks, the fridge and the board! A thank you to Print Group for helping us with our tickets! And a great job by Candida Branagh from Vivid Graphics for her help with the poster/ticket artwork! Great Job Candi!

CD Wharehouse was really the catalyst for this event. Michael Vincent was kind enough to help us with our fund raising plight. Thank you Mike. Another thank you goes out to Paul Sundy from Parlor 88 & Big Whiskeys for food & gifts well done. Thanks Paul.

Without our Radio partners I don't think this event would have been as well recognized. Diana Tyndall was a great help in getting the event to our market audience. Many people heard the PSA's and that was a great way to get the word out. Many thanks Midwest Family Radio!

Many thanks to Brian with Classic Board Shop. A great donation and some great purchases. Thanks Brian.

I want to recognize all of the artists that gave their time and their talent. Jake Bush thanks for helping out! Tyler Chapman thanks for your painting! Will Watson, thanks for your designs! Grampa Jenkins, thanks for your memorial of Killuh-E. We could not do this event without having your work included.

All of the vendors and donors - Element, Airwalk, CD Warehouse, Thrasher, Landshark, Riley Royce, Classic Board Shop, Requea Ink Shop, Mary K! Buckingham's BBQ - NIxa & N. Glenstone location and IDeA - Insight Design Architecture Nate & Eric (CLICK HERE TO SEE PROPOSED PARK IDEA'S), Parlor 88, Big Whiskey's and Volcom - THANK YOU!

And finally, thank you to all the people that showed up for the event. It's nice to have friends.

Below are a few that will be on Ebay in the near future if you would like to follow their auction. More items to follow. I'll post the location once it goes live.

CONTEST #3 Wrap-up

Thanks to all of the sponsors the Springfield Skate Park, Classic Skate Shop, Monster Energy Drinks, CD Warehouse, Zumiez, Low Card Magazine, Vans, Activision, Volcom and Big Whiskey's. This contest was the end last of the series and again all who attended saw some unbelievable skateboarding going down. The skaters in SWMO keep showing the skills that make skateboarding get even better.

Thanks to KY3 for putting pics of our contest on their website. Thank you EmPapa.

Caleb Newby was stealing the show with tricks and steez. Donovan Rhoades took 2nd place and Cory Grace took home 3rd place, both skating fast and mean. Not to mention Caleb Newby won the Zumiez Best Trick contest with a back-krook2back-lip on the rails outside the garage doors - sic!

Intermediates were not far behind the Advanced Division when it came to consistancy. Chance English had his day taking 1st, with Dalton Sharp and Robert Stull bringing up 2nd and 3rd.

Beginners showed some confidence and energy. Tyler Harris took 1st, Tristin Casper 2nd and Holden Bowles took back to the farm (traveled in 45 min. from an outlying town) 3rd place.

Thanks to everyone who donated time, energy and product to make this contest a great time. Thanks to Dan Barbee for shooting film! Can't wait to see the pics! Thanks to grampa, tC, Will for taking the time to throw down some graffiti style fine art, to be sold at the upcoming N.S.P. silent auction.

CONTEST #2 Wrap-up

NSP Contest Fundraiser report - September 28, 2010

I think this contest went very well. Thanks to the Springfield Skate Park, Classic Board Shop and
CD Warehouse we have had the best contest to date. We had so many people enter it was difficult to hold the HIGH OLLIE Contest,
in which Mark Vote & Tyler Chapman, ridin' for Classic Skate Shop, tied for the win. The pic below show just how big the ollies were...
and yes this was the make.

We are pleased to announce that Meek's Lumber has donated over $700 worth of lumber to the Nixa Skate Park Committee. We are using that wood to build additional obstacles for fundraising at contests/demos.

Thanks again Meek's! We are grateful for your donation!

Contest #1 Wrap-up

July 2010 skate park fundraiser contest - July 26th, 2010 Update

The contest was a success. Good showing for a Monday crowd, cooler than expected (outside) temperatures made the day tolerable weather wise. But an overall good time was had by all. If anyone has any photo's from the contest that they want to share, send them and we'll post'em.

Here are the breakdowns of the winners from each of the three divisions.

Special thanks to Classic Boards for their generous donation.

Also a shout out to Untitled Skateboards for their sponsorship of this contest.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the prizes.

Thank you for your support!

I also wanted to give the Springfield Skate Park a big hefty thanks!

Look for these donation cards at your local shops!

We have launched the new Nixa Skate Park Donation Card fundraising effort. We will be
meeting with businesses around the community to ask if they would like to assist us in selling these
donation cards to help increase our fundraising total. We've got lots of cards to sell, so tell your friends and donate whenever you see these cards at the market, the bank or the gas station.

Special thanks to Print Group for the printing of the cards!

Special Thanks!

We would like to send out a special thanks to the Ramey Price Cutter Grocery Stores for a significant contribution to our skate park fund. We are extremely grateful for their contribution to the Nixa Skate Park Fund!

If you are interested in making a donation you can contact us through our website or simply send your donation into the foundation office (info below).

Our Plan

The Nixa Skate Park Committee has been working to build a good foundation on which we can begin fundraising for Nixa's first public skate park. Although it will take some time to gather the necessary funds we must stay committed to raising all of the money needed. This will take time and effort and can only grow if the community stands along side us.
Please check back often to our website to get updates on our fundraising and activities to bring us closer to our goal. We need your help and donations!

How Can You Donate?

Donations can be mailed (at this time we don't have an online donation program) to:

Community Foundation of the Ozarks / Nixa Skate Park Fund
                   425 E. Trafficway
                   Springfield, MO 65806

 Partnership Donations
We encourage you to stop into these businesses and let them know you appreciate their help in raising money for Nixa's First Public Skate Park!
If you would like to donate a little more  than some change we have levels of giving that provide a way of being recognized for your partnership. The levels of giving are -

    Flatland level ($100 - $249)
Each person that donates between $100 and $249 will get their name on a
sign displayed in the skate area.

   Street level ($250 - $749)

Each person that donates between $250 and $749 will get their name engraved
on a granite paver. Each paver is sized at 4” x 8”.

   Vert level ($750 - $1,500)
Each person that donates between $750 and $1500 will get their name engraved
on the side of the skate park memorial monument. This will be a
freestanding granite monument that will be displayed in the park.

 Legendary ($1,501 and above)
Contact the committee for more information

If you are interested in making a donation in one of the levels above you can contact us through our website or simply send your donation into the foundation office (info above).
